The examinations were organised at Salomatlik Maskani Hospital in Bukhara, with appointments available between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

University management encouraged employees across different professional categories to participate, demonstrating an institution-wide approach to occupational health and preventive medical care.

By facilitating access to a local healthcare institution, BSU helps employees obtain medical assessments and encourages greater attention to personal health.

Regular medical examinations can support the early identification of potential health concerns, improve health awareness and encourage employees to seek appropriate medical advice when necessary.

The initiative also demonstrates practical cooperation between the university and the local healthcare system, making preventive medical services more accessible to university personnel.

Through such activities, BSU contributes to a healthier working environment and reinforces the importance of preventive healthcare as part of institutional well-being.

2. Partnership with Ansline Medical Company to Promote Preventive Healthcare and Medical Literacy

Bukhara State University is expanding its community health initiatives through cooperation between the BSU Volunteers Centre, operating under the university's Youth Union, and Ansline, a medical company based in Bukhara.

The partnership aims to strengthen volunteer participation in activities related to healthy lifestyles, medical literacy and disease prevention.

Under the proposed cooperation framework, the university and Ansline plan to organise health promotion campaigns, medical examinations, educational seminars and practical training sessions.

These activities are intended to provide students and volunteers with opportunities to improve their understanding of preventive healthcare and participate in community-oriented health initiatives.

The collaboration also seeks to connect student volunteer activities with professional medical expertise, encouraging the development of health awareness and social responsibility among young people.

Through educational and preventive programmes, the partnership has the potential to extend health-related information and services beyond the university campus.

This cooperation illustrates BSU's efforts to build relationships with local healthcare providers and develop student-led initiatives that promote public health and well-being.

The event brought together representatives of local government, the regional health administration and medical professionals.

The book, authored by Associate Professor Azalshoh Hamroyev, Director of the Museum of Remembrance of Victims of Repression affiliated with BSU, examines the history and development of emergency medical care.

During the presentation, the author discussed the preparation of the publication and its contribution to documenting the development of emergency healthcare services.

The event provided an opportunity for university representatives and healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge concerning the institutional history of emergency medical assistance.

Although primarily educational and historical in nature, the initiative demonstrates BSU's engagement with regional healthcare institutions and its contribution to the dissemination of knowledge about public medical services.

Such activities strengthen relationships between the university and regional health stakeholders and encourage interdisciplinary cooperation involving education, research and healthcare institutions.

5. Medical Service Provision During University Examinations and Public Events

Bukhara State University incorporates medical assistance and safety arrangements into the organisation of major academic events.

During professional and creative entrance examinations, including assessments in judo, boxing, hand-to-hand combat and other disciplines, the university arranged medical services to support participants' safety and well-being.

The examination facilities were equipped with the necessary technical resources, and sports halls were prepared for practical assessments.

Medical assistance was made available during the examinations, while National Guard personnel were involved in maintaining public order and safety.

The provision of medical support is particularly relevant during physically demanding examinations, where participants may require immediate assistance in the event of injury or illness.

By incorporating medical services into examination arrangements, BSU demonstrates its commitment to creating a safer environment for applicants, university personnel and other participants.

This approach reflects the university's broader emphasis on preventive safety measures and the availability of healthcare assistance during organised activities.

6. Strengthening Health Awareness, Prevention and Research Partnerships

Bukhara State University's collaborations demonstrate a multidimensional approach to improving health and well-being through partnerships with healthcare providers, scientific institutions and public organisations.

At the local level, cooperation with Salomatlik Maskani Hospital supports access to preventive medical examinations for employees, while the developing partnership with Ansline Medical Company creates opportunities for health education and volunteer-led preventive activities.

3.3.2 Health outreach programmes

Bukhara State University (BSU) actively contributes to improving health and well-being within the local community through psychological support programmes, health education, physical activity initiatives, charitable blood donation campaigns and activities supporting older members of society. These initiatives demonstrate the university's commitment to extending its educational expertise, professional resources and volunteer activities beyond the classroom to address the health and social needs of the wider population.

Through cooperation with healthcare institutions, government organisations, sports associations and community representatives, BSU implements programmes that promote mental health, healthy lifestyles, preventive healthcare, balanced nutrition, reproductive health awareness, physical fitness and social inclusion.

The university's approach combines direct community services with educational activities and public participation. Particular attention is given to socially vulnerable communities, young people, women, university employees and older adults.

1. Providing Psychological Support to Socially Vulnerable Communities

One of Bukhara State University's most significant community health initiatives involves providing psychological counselling and educational support to residents of socially and economically disadvantaged areas.

On 13 February, academic staff from the university's Department of Psychology conducted psychological consultations and training sessions in 15 mahallas (local neighbourhood communities) across Bukhara City, Bukhara District, Kogon City and Vobkent District.

The programme specifically targeted communities experiencing high levels of unemployment, poverty and socioeconomic hardship.

Reported participation and geographical coverage of the university's psychological outreach programme.

More than 150 residents participated in psychological seminars, individual consultations and support activities delivered by university specialists.

The programme focused on helping participants address personal and social difficulties through evidence-informed psychological approaches.

University psychologists provided guidance on effective interpersonal communication, coping with challenging life circumstances, improving everyday well-being and maintaining stable family and community relationships.

The activities also helped identify residents requiring psychological assistance and encouraged participants to develop constructive attitudes towards personal challenges and available support opportunities.

By delivering these services directly within disadvantaged communities, BSU improved opportunities for residents to access psychological expertise outside conventional university settings.

The initiative contributes to mental health awareness, community resilience and social inclusion, particularly among individuals facing socioeconomic pressures.

2. Promoting Healthy Lifestyles Through International Sports and Physical Education Conferences

Bukhara State University promotes physical health and active lifestyles through scientific events that connect university researchers, sports professionals, educators and international specialists.

On 15 March, the university hosted an international scientific and practical conference entitled “The Role of Physical Education and Sport in Developing a Healthy Lifestyle” at its Universal Sports Complex.

3. Organising Community Cycling and Walking Initiatives

Bukhara State University actively encourages regular physical activity through organised cycling and walking events involving students, academic staff, university employees and representatives of other higher education institutions.

One example is the university's participation in the recurring Ziyorat Velomarafoni (Pilgrimage Cycling Marathon).

Pilgrimage Cycling Marathon

Under the leadership of the university rector, BSU representatives joined cycling events to important cultural and historical destinations, including the Bahouddin Naqshband Memorial Complex and the Chor Bakr Memorial Complex.

These recurring activities promote regular exercise, social interaction and active participation in community life.

The cycling initiative brings together university leaders, academic staff, employees and students from higher education institutions across Bukhara Region.

Its recurring format encourages participants to integrate physical activity into their routines while strengthening relationships between educational institutions.

BSU also organised a morning wellness walk under the theme “National Values and Their Role in the Spiritual Life of the Nation”, incorporating a National Dress Marathon.

The event combined walking for physical well-being with the promotion of Uzbek cultural heritage and traditional clothing.

By linking exercise with cultural and community activities, the university encourages participation in physical activity in an accessible and socially engaging format.

These initiatives contribute to the promotion of active lifestyles, physical fitness and positive social relationships.

4. Health Education on Nutrition, Reproductive Health and Preventive Well-being

Bukhara State University also organises educational programmes addressing health-related issues that affect young people and the wider community.

One such initiative was a round-table discussion entitled “We Support a Healthy Lifestyle”, organised in cooperation with specialists from the Bukhara Regional Department of the Republican Institute of Health and Strategic Development.

The event featured health specialists Anjella Qurbonova, Feruza Kamalova, Shalola Asadova and Marjona Usmonova.

The discussion addressed several important aspects of preventive healthcare, including healthy lifestyle practices, appropriate nutrition during hot summer weather, the prevention of early marriage and the health and social implications of early pregnancy.

Participants received practical health information and recommendations from specialists, with opportunities to ask questions about the topics discussed.

The inclusion of nutrition and reproductive health awareness reflects the university's commitment to promoting informed health decisions among students.

By involving professional healthcare specialists, BSU helps ensure that health education activities are supported by relevant expertise.

These programmes contribute to improving health literacy, encouraging responsible personal health practices and raising awareness of preventable health risks.

5. Encouraging Physical Activity Through National Student Sports Initiatives

Bukhara State University promotes physical and mental well-being through participation in national sports programmes.

The university community, led by Rector Professor Obidjon Khamidov, participated in the Talaba – Yugur (Student – Run) running competition.

The event was organised through cooperation involving the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Sport, the Athletics Federation, UZINFOCOM and the Student Sports Association.

Held as part of a wider Sports Month programme, the initiative aimed to increase young people's interest in physical activity, encourage healthy lifestyles and support physical and psychological well-being.

Participation in the event provided opportunities for students and university employees to engage in organised exercise and interact with participants from other institutions.

The programme also encouraged friendship, cooperation and positive attitudes towards regular physical activity.

Through its involvement in national sporting initiatives, BSU contributes to wider public efforts to promote exercise and healthy lifestyles among young people.

6. Community Health Support Through Voluntary Blood Donation

Bukhara State University contributes to community healthcare through charitable blood donation initiatives involving academic staff, employees and students.

The university organised a voluntary blood donation campaign under the slogan “Donate Blood – Give the Gift of Life”, aimed at supporting children requiring medical assistance.

The campaign was conducted with the active participation of female academic staff, university employees and students, under the leadership of L. Khaydarova, Chair of the University's Women's Affairs Council.

Participants voluntarily donated blood to support patients requiring transfusions and other medical treatment.

As part of the initiative, each blood donor underwent a health assessment and received ten types of blood tests free of charge.

The campaign combined practical support for healthcare needs with preventive health awareness among participating donors.

It also promoted voluntary donation, social responsibility and solidarity with vulnerable patients.

By mobilising members of its academic community, BSU demonstrated how university volunteering can contribute directly to local healthcare support and encourage wider participation in charitable health initiatives.

7. Supporting Older Adults Through Social Engagement and Community Care

Bukhara State University recognises the importance of social inclusion, emotional well-being and continued community engagement among older adults.

As part of its Navruz celebrations, university representatives visited retired academic staff members to express appreciation for their contributions and maintain social connections.

One such visit involved retired university employees Sayyora Sattorova and Professor Damir Ro'ziyev.

During the meeting, university representatives conveyed greetings from the rector, discussed the retirees' well-being and acknowledged their years of service to education.

Although these visits do not constitute clinical healthcare, they provide an opportunity to maintain personal connections with retired employees and recognise their continued place within the university community.

Social engagement and interpersonal support are relevant to emotional well-being and healthy ageing, particularly among older adults who may experience reduced professional and social interaction after retirement.

Through such activities, BSU promotes respect for older generations and encourages a culture of care and social inclusion.

8. Integrating Health Promotion with Community Engagement and Volunteer Participation

Bukhara State University's health and well-being activities are characterised by the involvement of different academic departments, student groups, university employees and external partners.

The Department of Psychology provides professional expertise for community mental health outreach, while the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport contributes knowledge and practical experience to sports education and healthy lifestyle programmes.

University students and employees participate in cycling events, walking initiatives, running competitions and charitable blood donation activities.

Collaboration with public healthcare specialists strengthens the university's ability to provide educational programmes addressing nutrition, reproductive health and preventive well-being.

This multidisciplinary approach enables BSU to address several dimensions of health simultaneously, including psychological well-being, physical fitness, health literacy and social support.

By extending these activities beyond conventional academic instruction, the university contributes to a broader culture of health awareness and community responsibility.

3.3.3 Shared sports facilities

Bukhara State University (BSU) promotes physical activity, sports development and community well-being by making its sports infrastructure available for sporting events, national competitions and activities involving participants from outside the university.

A central component of this commitment is the BSU Universal Sports Complex, a multifunctional facility that accommodates university sporting activities as well as competitions involving regional, national and international participants.

Through the organisation and hosting of youth sports festivals, national team training sessions, national championships and martial arts competitions, BSU contributes to the development of a shared sporting environment that connects students, professional athletes, young people and members of the wider community.

These activities demonstrate the university's efforts to extend the benefits of its sports infrastructure beyond its own academic community, supporting wider participation in sport, athletic development and healthy lifestyles.

1. Hosting National Sports Teams and International Competitions

One of the clearest examples of Bukhara State University's commitment to sharing sports facilities is the use of its Universal Sports Complex by the Uzbekistan national team for training and international competitions.

The complex was selected as the venue for a national team training camp organised in preparation for the Asian Cup in Indonesia.

The training programme provided national-level athletes with access to university sports infrastructure for professional preparation and competitive development.

In addition, the complex was designated as the venue for international friendly matches between the national teams of Uzbekistan and Russia, scheduled for 19 and 21 December.

The first match was announced as open to spectators, allowing members of the public to attend an international sporting event hosted at the university facility.

The matches were also scheduled for live broadcast through national television and the official YouTube channel of the Uzbekistan Football Federation, extending public access to the competition beyond the venue itself.

By accommodating national team activities and international sporting events, BSU demonstrates that its facilities serve not only university students but also external sporting organisations, professional athletes and members of the general public.

This form of facility sharing supports cooperation between higher education institutions and national sports organisations while strengthening Bukhara's capacity to host major sporting activities.

2. Providing Sports Facilities for the Uzbekistan Youth Chess Championship

Bukhara State University also supports youth sports development by making its Universal Sports Complex available for national-level competitions involving young athletes from across Uzbekistan.

The complex was announced as the venue for the Uzbekistan Chess Championship for boys and girls aged 14–18, scheduled to begin on 21 February and continue for ten days.

Announced championship arrangements, including standard, rapid and blitz chess.

The competition was intended to bring together young chess players representing different regions of the country.

Participants were scheduled to compete in standard, rapid and blitz chess, providing opportunities to demonstrate strategic thinking, concentration and competitive skills.

Before the championship, the sports complex was prepared to accommodate the competition and its participants.

The university also invited chess enthusiasts to attend and observe the matches, extending opportunities for public engagement with the event.

Hosting such competitions provides young athletes from outside BSU with access to university facilities and supports the development of youth sport at national level.

The event also promotes intellectual engagement, concentration, social interaction and positive recreational activities among young people.

By opening its infrastructure to external competitions, BSU contributes to a broader sporting environment that benefits participants beyond its student population.

3. Hosting Martial Arts Competitions and Encouraging Community Engagement

The BSU Universal Sports Complex also serves as a venue for martial arts competitions.

The university announced that the ATF-27 Universal Martial Arts Championship would take place at the complex, with the competition scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.

University employees, academic staff and students were invited to attend as spectators.

The event demonstrates the facility's capacity to accommodate competitive martial arts activities and sporting events involving participants beyond routine university physical education programmes.

Martial arts competitions provide opportunities to promote physical fitness, discipline, sporting achievement and interest in combat sports.

By hosting such events, BSU supports the development of organised sport and creates opportunities for spectators to engage with competitive sporting activities.

The use of the complex for martial arts competitions further illustrates its multifunctional role in supporting different sporting disciplines.

4. Supporting Youth Sports Festivals and Healthy Lifestyle Promotion

Bukhara State University uses its Universal Sports Complex to organise large-scale sports activities that promote healthy lifestyles and encourage young people's participation in sport.

On 15 May 2025, the university hosted a Youth Sports Festival under the slogan “An Athlete – A Defender of the Nation” as part of the nationwide Sports Month initiative.

The initiative was implemented within the framework of Presidential Decree No. PF-6099 of 30 October 2020, concerning the promotion of healthy lifestyles and mass participation in sport.

The festival brought together student athletes, academic staff, university employees, senior management, retired educators and students who had achieved success in national and international sporting competitions.

The event also featured an exhibition highlighting student athletes' achievements, traditional music performances and an art exhibition.

Through this combination of sporting and cultural activities, the university promoted physical activity, community participation and recognition of sporting achievements.

The festival demonstrated the university's use of its sports infrastructure to encourage active lifestyles and celebrate sporting excellence.

Although the announcement primarily identifies university-affiliated participants, the event contributes to the institution's broader programme of sports promotion and provides an example of how its facilities support organised youth activities.

5. Strengthening Cooperation with External Sports Organisations

The range of competitions and activities hosted at the Universal Sports Complex demonstrates Bukhara State University's engagement with the wider sporting community.

The university's facilities have been used or designated for activities involving national sports teams, youth athletes from different regions and organisers of competitive sporting events.

These activities create opportunities for cooperation between the university and external sports organisations, helping connect higher education infrastructure with regional and national sporting needs.

The university's sports complex provides a venue for activities ranging from professional training and international competitions to youth championships and sports festivals.

This multifunctional use strengthens the role of BSU's facilities as shared sporting infrastructure within Bukhara.

It also supports the development of sporting opportunities for young people, athletes and spectators who are not necessarily members of the university community.

Through such cooperation, BSU contributes to the promotion of physical activity, competitive sport and community engagement.

6. Promoting Public Participation and Access to Sporting Events

An important aspect of Bukhara State University's approach is the opportunity for members of the wider community to attend sporting events hosted at its facilities.

The announced Uzbekistan–Russia international friendly match included provision for public spectators, while the youth chess championship invited chess enthusiasts to observe the competition.

These arrangements demonstrate that access to the university's sporting infrastructure is not limited exclusively to enrolled students or employees during major events.

Public attendance at sporting competitions can encourage interest in physical activity, increase awareness of different sporting disciplines and strengthen community connections.

For young spectators, exposure to national and international sporting events may also provide motivation to participate in organised sport.

By hosting events that welcome external participants or spectators, BSU supports a more inclusive sporting environment and reinforces the university's role as a community institution.

3.3.4 Sexual and reproductive health care services for students

Bukhara State University (BSU) is committed to promoting students' health and well-being by providing access to educational, preventive and advisory services addressing reproductive health, personal hygiene, psychological well-being and healthy lifestyles.

Through its Women's Advisory Council, the university implements a structured programme of open discussions entitled “Sizga aytar gapim bor” (“I Have Something to Tell You”). The initiative is designed to identify and address the health-related, psychological and social concerns of female students while improving their access to professional guidance and relevant support services.

The programme is conducted according to an approved schedule and involves healthcare professionals, university representatives and members of the Women's Advisory Council. By creating opportunities for direct communication between students and specialists, BSU seeks to strengthen reproductive health awareness, promote preventive healthcare and support informed personal health decisions.

1. Providing Reproductive Health Education and Professional Guidance

As part of the “Sizga aytar gapim bor” programme, Bukhara State University organised an open discussion for female students at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

The meeting brought together healthcare professionals and members of the university's Women's Advisory Council to discuss issues affecting students' physical, reproductive and psychological health.

A central component of the event was reproductive health education, during which medical specialists provided preventive information and practical recommendations to help students better understand and manage their health.

The discussions created an opportunity for female students to engage directly with healthcare professionals, ask questions and receive guidance on reproductive health and related well-being concerns.

By integrating professional medical advice into student support activities, BSU contributes to improving reproductive health literacy and encouraging informed, responsible decisions about personal health.

2. Promoting Personal Hygiene and Preventive Healthcare

The programme also addresses personal hygiene and preventive health practices as essential components of reproductive and general well-being.

During the open discussion, healthcare professionals provided practical recommendations concerning personal hygiene, healthy lifestyle habits and the prevention of health-related problems.

These educational activities aim to increase students' awareness of everyday practices that support physical health and reduce preventable health risks.

The involvement of medical specialists helps ensure that students receive health information through direct engagement with qualified professionals.

By incorporating hygiene education into its student support programme, BSU promotes preventive healthcare and encourages students to adopt healthier daily routines.

3. Integrating Psychological Support with Reproductive Health Education

Bukhara State University recognises the relationship between psychological well-being, personal health and students' ability to participate successfully in academic and social life.

The “Sizga aytar gapim bor” initiative therefore combines reproductive health education with discussions addressing stress prevention, emotional well-being and psychological difficulties.

During the meeting, healthcare professionals and Women's Advisory Council representatives engaged directly with students about their psychological condition, educational challenges and social concerns.

Specialists provided recommendations on preventing stress and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

This integrated approach enables the university to address reproductive health within a broader framework of student well-being rather than treating it as an isolated issue.

By encouraging open communication, BSU also creates opportunities for students to raise sensitive concerns and seek appropriate guidance in a supportive educational environment.

4. Identifying Individual Needs and Providing Targeted Student Support

An important feature of the programme is its focus on identifying students who may require additional assistance.

The open discussions provide a structured opportunity for female students to communicate directly with healthcare professionals and university representatives about health-related, psychological, educational and social difficulties.

Following the meeting at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the organisers identified follow-up responsibilities aimed at addressing students' concerns and providing targeted assistance.

The university also established tasks for continuing support activities at faculty level.

This approach helps connect health education with the university's wider student welfare arrangements.

Rather than limiting the initiative to general awareness-raising, BSU uses the discussions to identify concerns that may require further attention and to organise appropriate institutional responses.

The programme therefore contributes to the development of a more responsive and student-centred support environment.

5. Ensuring Continuity Through a University-Wide Programme

The “Sizga aytar gapim bor” initiative forms part of an ongoing programme coordinated by Bukhara State University's Women's Advisory Council.

The discussions are conducted according to an approved plan, with further meetings scheduled across university faculties.

This structured approach demonstrates that reproductive health awareness and student well-being are addressed through recurring activities rather than a single educational event.

By continuing the programme at faculty level, BSU seeks to reach female students across different academic disciplines and provide repeated opportunities for health education, consultation and discussion.

The involvement of healthcare professionals and Women's Advisory Council members also strengthens coordination between medical expertise and university student support structures.

Through this programme, the university promotes greater awareness of reproductive health, preventive healthcare, psychological well-being and personal hygiene among its female student population.

3.3.5 Mental health support for students

Bukhara State University (BSU) is committed to supporting students' mental health and psychological well-being through dedicated psychological services, individual counselling, preventive interventions, stress management training and personal development programmes. The university has established a structured approach to mental health support that combines professional psychological assistance with educational activities, early identification of psychological difficulties and initiatives promoting emotional resilience.

A central component of this approach is the university's Psychological Clinic and Psychological Scientific and Practical Research Centre, operating under the Department of Psychology. These facilities provide students with access to qualified psychological specialists who offer psychological assessments, consultations, corrective interventions and practical training.

In addition to these specialised services, university psychologists regularly organise preventive discussions and interactive training sessions across academic faculties and student residences. These activities address stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, suicide prevention, emotional self-regulation, interpersonal relationships and psychological resilience.

Through this combination of professional services and preventive programmes, BSU seeks to create a supportive educational environment in which students can access psychological assistance and develop the skills necessary to maintain their mental well-being.

1. Providing Professional Psychological Services Through Dedicated University Facilities

Bukhara State University provides students with access to specialised psychological support through its Psychological Clinic and Psychological Scientific and Practical Research Centre, established within the Department of Psychology.

According to the university's announcement of 5 March 2025, these facilities deliver psychological services to university students, young people outside formal educational or employment structures, and other individuals interested in psychological support and development.

Experienced psychology professionals work at the facilities, providing a range of services, including:

  • Psychological assessment and diagnostic consultations.
  • Individual psychological counselling and guidance.
  • Psychological correction and support interventions.
  • Practical training sessions and personal development workshops.
  • Specialist seminars and professional development activities.

The centres aim to support students in understanding their psychological characteristics, developing their abilities, strengthening motivation and making informed educational and career decisions.

Psychological services also address emotional stability, self-confidence, personal resilience and difficulties that may affect students' academic performance and everyday lives.

By maintaining dedicated facilities staffed by experienced professionals, BSU provides an institutional mechanism through which students can obtain psychological assistance rather than relying exclusively on occasional awareness campaigns.

The centres also contribute to the professional preparation of practising psychologists, strengthening the university's capacity to deliver psychological support and applied psychological education.

2. Suicide Prevention and Early Identification of Psychological Difficulties

Bukhara State University implements targeted psychological interventions designed to identify students experiencing emotional distress and promote awareness of suicide prevention.

University psychologists Dilbar Hamdamova and Nozira Musinova organised psychological training sessions involving students, focusing on suicide prevention and the identification of neurotic and depressive symptoms.

The sessions incorporated psychological exercises, interactive activities and questionnaires intended to help participants reflect on their emotional condition and personal characteristics.

Students also participated in activities aimed at developing emotional awareness, self-regulation, personal resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations.

These initiatives provide opportunities for university psychologists to engage directly with students and identify concerns that may require additional attention.

A separate preventive discussion was organised by psychologist Nozira Musinova in cooperation with faculty tutors for students residing in Student Residence Building No. 1.

The session focused on recognising serious stress and depressive symptoms, understanding appropriate responses to psychological difficulties and encouraging students to seek support when needed.

Participants were informed that assistance could be obtained not only from family members and friends but also from university staff who could help with psychological, social and legal concerns.

Students were additionally encouraged to pay attention to changes in the emotional well-being of classmates and roommates and to respond supportively when someone appeared to be experiencing difficulties.

Through these preventive activities, BSU promotes early recognition of psychological distress, help-seeking behaviour and a more supportive student community.

3. Stress Management and Psychological Support in Student Residences

Recognising that students living away from home may experience academic, social and personal pressures, Bukhara State University provides psychological training within its student accommodation facilities.

University psychologists organised a training session entitled “Stress, Problems and Solutions” for students residing in accommodation associated with the Faculty of Agronomy and Biotechnology.

The programme addressed several aspects of stress prevention and management.

Students were introduced to methods for recognising the symptoms and causes of stress, enabling them to develop a better understanding of their emotional responses.

The training also covered practical coping strategies, including time management, relaxation techniques and breathing exercises.

Particular attention was given to strengthening psychological resilience, developing self-confidence and improving students' ability to respond constructively to challenging circumstances.

The programme further emphasised the relationship between mental well-being and healthy lifestyle habits, including balanced nutrition, regular physical activity and adequate sleep.

An important objective was to create a supportive environment in which students felt comfortable discussing personal difficulties and seeking psychological assistance.

By organising these activities directly in student residences, BSU makes preventive mental health education more accessible to students within their everyday living environment.

This approach also supports academic well-being by helping students develop strategies for managing stress that may affect concentration, motivation and educational performance.

4. Promoting Emotional Well-being Through Creative Psychological Activities

Bukhara State University incorporates creative and interactive approaches into its psychological support programmes.

One example is the organisation of Neurographics sessions by university psychologist Nozira Musinova for students of the Faculty of Information Technology and Physics and Mathematics.

The sessions used structured drawing activities to encourage emotional expression, reflection and personal development.

The programme aimed to help students explore personal goals, reflect on internal conflicts and develop constructive approaches to managing stress.

Participants were encouraged to express their emotions and share their experiences following the activities.

The sessions also promoted self-awareness, creativity and reflection on personal challenges.

By offering creative psychological activities alongside conventional counselling and educational interventions, BSU provides students with different opportunities to engage in emotional well-being programmes.

These activities form part of the university's broader effort to encourage psychological self-awareness and provide supportive environments for discussing emotional difficulties.

5. Outdoor Motivational Training to Support Psychological Resilience

Bukhara State University also organises outdoor motivational activities that combine psychological education with social interaction and engagement with the natural environment.

University psychologist Nozira Musinova conducted an outdoor training session involving students from the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology.

The activity focused on promoting psychological well-being, motivation, creative thinking and teamwork.

Participants engaged in activities intended to encourage emotional relaxation, strengthen personal confidence and support constructive attitudes towards academic and personal challenges.

The programme also highlighted the potential benefits of spending time outdoors, participating in physical activity and developing positive relationships with peers.

By integrating motivational training with outdoor experiences, the university offers students additional opportunities to reflect on their well-being and strengthen social connections.

Such activities complement professional psychological services by encouraging healthy recreational habits and supportive interpersonal relationships.

6. Preventing Substance-Related Harm Through Psychological Education

Bukhara State University addresses substance-related risks through educational and preventive activities involving university psychologists and public safety representatives.

An awareness event was organised for academic staff and students of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology concerning mechanisms for preventing the illegal circulation of psychoactive substances among young people.

The event included presentations by university psychologist Nozira Musinova, university prevention inspectors and Major S. Shernazarov, Deputy Head of the Bukhara City Internal Affairs Department.

Participants received information concerning the prevention of psychoactive substance-related problems and the importance of responsible behaviour.

The involvement of a university psychologist helped connect the prevention initiative with broader student well-being and psychological awareness activities.

By addressing substance-related risks through educational outreach, BSU contributes to preventive health education and encourages students to recognise behaviours and circumstances that may threaten their well-being.

7. Supporting Student Well-being Through Cultural, Recreational and Personal Development Activities

Bukhara State University complements its specialised psychological services with recreational and personal development programmes designed to promote student engagement and positive social interaction.

The university's Youth Union organised a comprehensive initiative entitled “Five Initiatives – Five Opportunities”, focusing on students' intellectual, creative and physical development.

The programme included cultural performances, chess and draughts competitions, table tennis, information technology activities, poetry events and practical skills workshops.

These activities encouraged students to develop their interests, participate in organised recreation and engage with peers outside formal academic settings.

The programme also promoted constructive use of leisure time and opportunities for personal achievement.

In addition, the university's Department for Working with Women organised a discussion entitled “Enlightenment Against Ignorance” for female students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport.

The event focused on developing independent thinking, informed decision-making and awareness of social influences.

8. Integrating Psychological Services with Faculty and Student Support Structures

An important feature of BSU's mental health support approach is the cooperation between professional psychologists, faculty tutors, academic departments and student support representatives.

University psychologists provide specialist knowledge and direct psychological assistance, while faculty tutors help organise preventive discussions and communicate information about available support.

The university's student residence programmes extend psychological education into students' living environments, while faculty-based activities enable specialists to engage with students from different academic disciplines.

Preventive discussions also encourage students to support one another and seek assistance from university personnel when facing psychological or social difficulties.

This integrated approach helps connect professional psychological services with everyday student welfare arrangements.

Through its Psychological Clinic, Psychological Scientific and Practical Research Centre, practising psychologists and faculty-level initiatives, BSU provides several channels through which students can receive psychological guidance and participate in mental health education.

3.3.6 Smoke-free policy.

According to the rules, all public places in Uzbekistan are smoke-free, and violating this regulation will result in a penalty of 99,000 UZS. Bukhara State University has emphasised this rule in its smoke-free policy, which states that:

Smoke-Free Policy of Bukhara State University

1. General Provisions and Objectives

Purpose of the policy — to protect the health of staff, students, and visitors from the harmful effects of tobacco and electronic cigarettes, and to create and maintain an environment that promotes a healthy lifestyle. This is in line with the Law “On the Restriction of Distribution and Consumption of Alcohol and Tobacco Products” No. ZRU-844 of 24.05.2023 (entered into force on 26.08.2023).

2. Scope of Application

The policy applies to the entire university territory: academic buildings, dormitories, libraries, canteens, corridors, courtyards, sports facilities, and other public areas — both indoors and outdoors.

It covers all forms of tobacco use, electronic cigarettes, hookah, and similar nicotine-delivery devices.

3. Smoking Ban

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all public areas of the university, including tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, hookahs, and other nicotine-containing devices, except in designated smoking areas if such spaces are officially provided.

3.3.7 Mental health support for staff

Bukhara State University (BSU) promotes the mental health and psychological well-being of its academic and administrative staff through workplace psychological training, stress awareness activities, recreational sports programmes and initiatives supporting a positive and inclusive working environment.

The university recognises that staff well-being is an important component of a healthy and productive academic community. Accordingly, BSU incorporates psychological support and mental health awareness into its broader institutional activities, with particular attention to workplace relationships, emotional resilience, stress management and social engagement.

These efforts involve the university's practising psychologists, academic departments, administrative units and external specialists. The activities include psychological training for employees, assessment of stress resilience, weekly sports programmes, mental health awareness events and educational initiatives addressing psychological violence and personal safety.

Together, these programmes demonstrate the university's efforts to create a supportive working environment and provide staff with opportunities to strengthen their psychological well-being.

1. Providing Professional Psychological Training and Stress Assessment for University Employees

Bukhara State University provides targeted psychological support to employees through training sessions delivered by its practising psychologists.

On 6 February, university psychologists organised a psychological training session for employees of the university's Information Resource Centre.

The session focused on two main themes: “Improving the Psychological Climate in the Workplace” and “Self-Awareness.”

The programme included interactive psychological exercises and team-building activities designed to strengthen communication, encourage cooperation and promote positive relationships among colleagues.

Participants engaged in group exercises intended to improve workplace interaction and create a more supportive professional environment.

An additional component of the training involved the administration of the A. Assinger psychological questionnaire, which was used to explore employees' psychological characteristics and stress resilience.

The inclusion of psychological assessment alongside interactive training demonstrates BSU's approach to combining staff development with psychological well-being activities.

By involving practising psychologists directly in employee training, the university provides staff with opportunities to reflect on their emotional well-being, develop interpersonal skills and increase awareness of workplace stress.

Such initiatives contribute to the development of a healthier organisational climate and encourage constructive relationships between university employees.

2. Promoting Staff Well-being Through Weekly Sports and Recreational Activities

Bukhara State University has introduced a recurring institutional sports initiative aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening social relationships among employees.

In accordance with Presidential Resolution No. PQ-443 of 18 December 2024, the university designated every Thursday as Sports Day.

Under this initiative, academic staff from different faculties participate in organised sporting activities, including football, basketball and volleyball.

The university organised football and basketball matches involving academic staff from different faculties, creating opportunities for recreational exercise and informal interaction outside their regular professional responsibilities.

Volleyball matches were also held involving academic staff from higher education institutions across Bukhara Region.

These activities encourage physical activity while strengthening teamwork, collegial relationships and social engagement.

The recurring Sports Day programme provides a structured opportunity for staff to participate in recreational activities as part of university life.

Although sporting activities are not a substitute for professional psychological services, they can complement workplace well-being initiatives by encouraging exercise, social connection and constructive use of leisure time.

Through this programme, BSU promotes an institutional culture in which staff health and well-being are supported through regular opportunities for physical activity and social participation.

3. Supporting Female Employees Through Inclusive Health and Wellness Activities

Bukhara State University organises activities specifically intended to promote healthy lifestyles and physical well-being among female employees.

The university announced a programme of sports and wellness activities under the slogan “I Choose a Healthy Life”, scheduled for 4 April at the Universal Sports Complex.

The programme was intended for female academic staff and other female employees from all university faculties.

The activities were designed to encourage participation in recreational exercise and promote healthier lifestyle habits.

By providing dedicated opportunities for female employees to engage in sports and wellness activities, BSU supports their participation in university health promotion initiatives.

The use of the Universal Sports Complex also demonstrates the university's commitment to making its recreational infrastructure available for staff well-being programmes.

Such activities can complement broader mental health support by encouraging physical activity, social interaction and positive relationships among colleagues.

The programme reflects the university's attention to the well-being of female staff and the importance of inclusive participation in workplace wellness initiatives.

4. Encouraging Physical Activity and Positive Social Interaction Through Morning Exercise

Bukhara State University also promotes healthy routines through organised morning exercise sessions involving academic staff, faculty tutors and students.

At the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, university representatives participated in a morning exercise activity under the slogan “Sport Is the Foundation of Health.”

The activity brought together academic staff, faculty tutors and students to participate in physical exercise.

By involving staff and students in shared recreational activities, the university encourages active lifestyles and strengthens social connections within the academic community.

Morning exercise initiatives provide opportunities for employees to engage in physical activity and participate in positive group experiences.

These activities complement the university's psychological well-being programmes by promoting healthy routines and encouraging interaction between colleagues and students.

5. Raising Mental Health Awareness Through International Psychologists' Day

Bukhara State University contributes to the development of psychological awareness through educational and cultural events highlighting the importance of mental health and professional psychological support.

As part of International Psychologists' Day, the university organised an event entitled “Dedicated Professionals Who Bring Light to the Mind.”

The programme was opened by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Rustam Jumayev, who emphasised the importance of psychology in contemporary society and the growing role of psychological specialists in supporting young people.

The event highlighted the significance of psychological knowledge, self-awareness and attention to mental well-being.

By recognising the work of psychologists and promoting discussion of psychological health, BSU contributes to a university environment in which mental health is treated as an important aspect of personal and professional life.

Such awareness activities can encourage staff to develop a greater understanding of psychological well-being and recognise the value of professional psychological assistance.

The initiative also acknowledges the contribution of university psychologists to the broader academic community.

6. Promoting Psychological Safety Through Awareness of Violence and Harassment

Bukhara State University addresses psychological safety and personal well-being through educational activities focusing on violence prevention and access to protective services.

As part of the nationwide campaign “Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women”, held from 25 November to 10 December, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agrobiotechnologies organised a round-table discussion involving university representatives and external specialists.

The event included psychologist D. Saidjanova from the Bukhara Regional Centre for Rehabilitation and Adaptation of Women, legal consultant Q. Yuldashova, and representatives of regional law enforcement institutions.

Participants received information about different forms of violence and harassment, including psychological, physical, sexual, economic and cyber violence.

Specialists also explained available protection mechanisms, the role of protection orders and the services provided by regional rehabilitation centres.

The discussion was organised in cooperation with faculty representatives responsible for student affairs and women's issues, as well as tutors and students.

Although the announcement primarily identifies students and faculty representatives as participants, the initiative demonstrates the university's engagement with external psychological and legal specialists on issues relevant to personal safety and psychological well-being.

The information shared concerning psychological violence and rehabilitation services is also relevant to the wider university community, including employees who may face similar challenges.

Through such educational activities, BSU promotes awareness of psychological safety, personal rights and available support mechanisms.

7. Developing a Supportive and Health-Conscious Working Environment

Bukhara State University's staff well-being initiatives combine direct psychological training with preventive and recreational activities.

The psychological training delivered to Information Resource Centre employees provides a clear example of professional psychological engagement with university staff.

The recurring Thursday Sports Day programme and additional wellness activities offer opportunities for exercise, social interaction and the development of positive workplace relationships.

Mental health awareness events contribute to greater recognition of psychological well-being, while educational discussions on violence prevention support awareness of personal safety and external assistance services.

Together, these activities reflect an institutional approach that addresses staff well-being through several complementary channels.

By involving practising psychologists, academic departments and external specialists, BSU seeks to promote a positive working environment in which employees can participate in activities supporting emotional well-being, healthy lifestyles and professional relationships.
