As part of the visit of the Bukhara State University delegation to the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, an official meeting was held between the leadership of Bukhara State University and Xinjiang University. Representatives of both higher education institutions attended the meeting, led by Rector of Bukhara State University Obidjon Khamidov and Rector of Xinjiang University Ma Xinbin.

The discussions focused on prospects for expanding cooperation in education, research and innovation. Particular attention was given to developing academic mobility opportunities for faculty members, early-career researchers and students; conducting joint research and implementing international projects; facilitating the exchange of academic expertise; and establishing joint educational programmes in the future.

During the visit, the BukhSU delegation also familiarized itself with the activities of Xinjiang University’s China–Central Asia Education Exchange and Cooperation Center. The parties exchanged views on opportunities to strengthen academic ties between higher education institutions in China and Central Asian countries, expand student and faculty mobility, and implement joint educational and research projects.

The delegation also visited Xinjiang University’s Institute of Smart Agriculture, where discussions addressed advanced agricultural technologies, digital and smart farming, the application of innovative solutions in agriculture, and prospects for developing collaborative research in these areas.

The visit opened up new opportunities for strengthening BukhSU’s research capacity in agriculture and agricultural innovation through international cooperation, drawing on advanced expertise and integrating best practices into the University’s educational and research activities.

At the conclusion of the official meeting, Bukhara State University and Xinjiang University signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document provides an important institutional framework for the systematic development of cooperation between the two universities in education, research, academic exchange, innovation and joint projects.

The meetings and agreements reached during the visit represent another important step towards broadening BukhSU’s cooperation with Chinese higher education and research institutions, strengthening Uzbekistan–China academic and research ties, and translating collaborative initiatives into practical projects.
