As part of an official visit, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kongratbay Sharipov, visited Bukhara State University and reviewed the modern conditions created for young people, the educational process, and ongoing efforts aimed at ensuring a meaningful and engaging student life.
During the visit, particular attention was given to the development of sports, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and the enhancement of students’ physical activity. The Minister reviewed the activities of sports clubs, as well as the infrastructure established for mini-football, basketball, volleyball, and other sports. He also observed the processes being implemented within the framework of the “New Uzbekistan Students’ Olympiad”.
It was noted that BukhSU students are achieving significant results in sports at both international and national levels. In particular, the university’s football team, having earned promotion to the Pro League, is successfully competing in these prestigious competitions.
At the same time, certain challenges in the sports sector within higher education institutions were discussed, including issues related to students’ physical fitness levels. At Bukhara State University, concrete measures have been identified to improve the effectiveness of sports clubs, expand student participation in sports, strengthen cooperation with sports federations, and introduce targeted support mechanisms for talented students.
The Minister also reviewed the conditions in student dormitories and held a meeting with members of the “Qalqon” public group operating under the Youth Union. During a meeting with students with disabilities, their opinions and suggestions regarding the inclusive environment were carefully considered.
As part of the visit, the Minister attended the “Gulxan atrofida” cultural program and observed the “Zakovat” intellectual game. A friendly dialogue was also held with international students, during which their academic engagement and achievements were acknowledged.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Minister reviewed the activities of the volunteer club at the university’s coworking center and provided relevant instructions to further enhance youth social engagement.
The visit highlighted the wide-ranging opportunities created for students at the university and outlined key priorities for advancing sports and physical education to a new level.
