Opening Ceremony of International Academic Olympiads Held at Bukhara State University

Bukhara State University hosted the opening ceremony of two prestigious international academic events — the Bukhara International Chemistry Olympiad (BICHO-2026) and the Bukhara International Mathematics Olympiad (BIMO-2026). The ceremony officially commenced with the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

These intellectual competitions have brought together teams from more than 10 countries, including Russia, Turkmenistan, Jordan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, India, China, and Tajikistan. Overall, more than 100 teams, over 500 talented students, as well as representatives from more than 10 foreign and over 50 national higher education institutions, have gathered at the university to demonstrate their knowledge and academic excellence.

 

The opening ceremony was officially inaugurated on behalf of the Rector of Bukhara State University, Obidjon Khamidov, by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Abror Jo‘rayev, who emphasized that these Olympiads serve as a symbol of friendship among nations and academic collaboration.

 

The event was attended by Abduvali Kholiqov, Director of the Center for Higher Education Development Research under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who conveyed the Minister’s congratulatory message to the participants.

 

Additionally, Hafiza Artikova, Deputy Governor of Bukhara Region, addressed the audience and delivered greetings on behalf of the regional governor. She highlighted Bukhara’s centuries-old legacy as a center of science and civilization, noting that the current event represents a worthy continuation of these traditions.

 

As part of the ceremony, participants were shown a special video address from Obidjon Khamidov, Rector of Bukhara State University and Chairman of the Olympiads’ Organizing Committee, who is currently on an official overseas business trip.
