About the Department

The Department of Chemistry and Oil and Gas Technologies was established under Order No. 811-Sh of the Rector of Bukhara State University, dated April 24, 2024, through the merger of the Departments of General and Inorganic Chemistry and Organic and Physical Colloid Chemistry.

Its academic history dates back to the Department of Chemistry founded in 1931 under Professor F.A. Turdakov. Today, the Department trains undergraduate students in Chemistry and Oil and Gas Chemistry, master's students in Chemistry, and researchers in relevant scientific specializations.

The academic team consists of 6 professors, 10 associate professors, and 7 lecturers. The Head of the Department is G‘aniyev Baxtiyor Shukrulloyevich, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry and Associate Professor.

History and Development Milestones

1931 — Foundation of the Chemistry Department

The Department of Chemistry began its activities under Professor F.A. Turdakov.

Development of the Research School and Laboratories

Under Ya.I. Pakanayev, studies of alkaloids, flavonoids, and carbohydrates in medicinal plants expanded, and laboratory facilities were strengthened.

1992 — Departmental Reorganization

Following the institution's transition to university status, the Chemistry Department was divided into General Chemistry and Organic and Physical Colloid Chemistry departments.

1992–2016 — Fundamental Research

The Coordination Compounds Chemistry laboratory developed, research grants under national scientific and technical programs were completed, and fundamental studies of ketoaldehyde and ketoester derivatives and complexes were conducted.

2024 — The Current Department

The Department of Chemistry and Oil and Gas Technologies was established under Order No. 811-Sh dated April 24, 2024.
