History of the Department of English Literature and Stylistics.
The Department of English Literature and Stylistics was established in 1962 under the name of the Department of Foreign Languages.  In the first years, due to lack of scientific potential, leading scientists from the Tashkent State University of World Languages (former Tashkent State Institute of Foreign Languages) were sent on a 5-year business trip.  In 1967, the Faculty of Foreign Languages began to function as an independent faculty, and departments of English, German and French were established.
In 1988-2004, the department was renamed the Department of English Philology, and in 2004 the Department of English Philology was expanded, on the basis of which two departments were established: "English Phonetics and Grammar" and "English Vocabulary and Stylistics".
Since 2005, the Department of English Philology has had two departments.  Departments of "English Linguistics" and "English Stylistics and Literature".  In July 2011, the departments of "English Linguistics" and "English Philology" were merged to form "English Philology", and from May 2015 under the name "English Language and Literature".
Since April 2018, it has been operating under the name of the Department of English Literature.  In October 2020, two departments were renamed the Department of English Literature and the Department of English Literature and Stylistics.
