Number of Campus Sites

[1.3] Number of Campus Sites

The Main Campus remains the largest university campus, covering 180,093.92 square meters. Located in the city center, approximately 300 meters from the regional administration building, it has served as the university’s principal campus since the institution was founded in 1930. The campus comprises three five-storey academic and administrative buildings, six four-storey dormitory blocks, a media-resource center with a library, sports facilities, dining facilities, and parking infrastructure. Six faculties are based on this campus: Economics and Tourism, Natural Sciences, History and Law, Sports Activities and Pedagogy, Information and Communication Technologies, and Physics and Mathematics.

The Foreign Languages Campus occupies 5,636.72 square meters and is situated within a 15-minute walking distance of the main campus. Renovated in 2022, the campus provides modern educational facilities, including classrooms, a library, media-resource rooms, and study areas. All departments of the Faculty of Foreign Languages operate on this campus.

The Agronomy and Biotechnology Campus has experienced substantial growth following the acquisition of additional land designated for agricultural research and experimental activities. As a result, the campus now covers 432,667.15 square meters, making it the largest landholding among the university’s academic campuses. Located 9.4 km northwest of the main campus, it includes academic buildings, laboratories, a greenhouse, sports facilities, and extensive research fields that support teaching and scientific research in agronomy, biotechnology, and environmental sciences.

The Philology Campus is located in the southern part of Bukhara City and covers 13,729.3 square meters. Established as part of the university in 2020, it houses the departments of Uzbek Literature, Uzbek Philology and Journalism, Russian Literature, and Russian Philology.

A major contribution to the university’s expansion was the establishment of the Universal Sports Complex, which officially became the university’s seventh campus in 2024. Covering 89,537.04 square meters, the complex serves as the primary educational and training facility for the Faculty of Sports and Physical Culture. The campus includes a multifunctional sports building, classrooms, lecture halls, a conference hall, a media center, football and tennis facilities, and parking infrastructure. Its addition significantly increased the university’s overall campus area and enhanced its capacity for sports education, research, and community engagement.

The Soktare Campus, located in Gijduvan District approximately 62 km from the main campus, occupies 125,745.06 square meters. The campus primarily serves extramural bachelor’s programmes in arts and humanities, life sciences, physical sciences, and social sciences. The site includes academic buildings, sports facilities, and extensive cultivated land.

The Academic Lyceum Campus is situated in Qorakol District, 63.4 km from the main campus, and covers 36,667.84 square meters. The campus offers specialized secondary education in arts and humanities, natural sciences, and life sciences, and includes academic buildings, sports facilities, and landscaped green areas. Its mathematics programme is recognized among the strongest in the country.

The university’s total campus area has increased substantially in recent years due to two key developments: the inclusion of the Universal Sports Complex as the seventh university campus in 2024 and the acquisition of additional agricultural land for research purposes at the Agronomy and Biotechnology Campus. These developments have strengthened the university’s educational, research, and community-service capacities while providing additional infrastructure for future growth.
