Mandatory Annual Training on Environmental Sustainability

1. Purpose

In alignment with the environmental dimensions of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land)—Bukhara State University establishes mandatory annual training on environmental sustainability.

The purpose of this training is to ensure that all staff members and students possess the knowledge, skills, and awareness necessary to contribute actively to environmentally responsible behavior both on campus and in the wider community.

2. Scope

This training is compulsory for:

  • All academic and administrative staff
  • Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students

Participation is required once per academic year.

3. Objectives

The training aims to:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of environmental challenges at local and global levels
  • Promote responsible use of water, energy, and natural resources
  • Encourage sustainable practices such as waste reduction, recycling, and energy efficiency
  • Raise awareness of climate change impacts and mitigation strategies
  • Foster a culture of environmental responsibility and accountability within the university

4. Core Training Modules

4.1 Sustainable Resource Management

  • Efficient use of water and energy
  • Introduction to renewable energy systems on campus
  • Practical strategies for reducing resource consumption

4.2 Waste Management and Circular Economy

  • Waste segregation and recycling practices
  • Reducing single-use materials
  • Principles of circular economy in daily university life

4.3 Climate Action and Environmental Protection

  • Causes and consequences of climate change
  • Individual and institutional carbon footprint
  • Climate adaptation and mitigation measures

4.4 Biodiversity and Ecosystem Preservation

  • Importance of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems
  • Protection of local biodiversity
  • Sustainable land use practices

5. Delivery Format

The training will be delivered through a blended learning model, including:

  • Online modules and video lectures
  • Interactive workshops and seminars
  • Practical on-campus activities (e.g., clean-up campaigns, energy audits)

6. Assessment and Certification

  • Participants must complete short assessments or quizzes
  • A certificate of completion will be issued annually
  • Completion will be recorded in:
    • Staff professional development records
    • Student academic or extracurricular transcripts

7. Responsibilities

University Administration:

Faculty and Departments:
