BUKHARA STATE UNIVERSITY ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED TO FURTHER ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL QUALITY BASED ON THE 2024 STUDENT SURVEY RESULTS

24.12.2025

At Bukhara State University, the results of the student survey conducted in 2024 were analyzed in comparison with the 2023 findings in order to assess progress, identify remaining challenges, and define further quality enhancement measures. Based on this analysis, a set of targeted actions was implemented to consolidate achieved improvements and address issues that remained partially resolved.
Following the observed increase in student awareness of institutional reforms and quality assurance processes, the University continued strengthening its quality assurance framework. Although students demonstrated improved understanding of quality-related processes, the absence of a single, fully institutionalized Quality Assurance Policy was identified. In response, a unified Quality Assurance Policy was formally approved and published, and annual “Student Feedback – Actions Taken” reports were institutionalized. These measures significantly increased transparency and raised student awareness to over 80 percent.
In the area of academic program development, a reduction in curriculum-related complaints was recorded in comparison with the previous year. However, student involvement in program revision remained largely informal. To address this, formal mechanisms were introduced to include student representatives in curriculum review committees. As a result, the majority of academic programs were reviewed annually with documented student participation, leading to stronger alignment between learning outcomes and student expectations.
Student feedback indicated improved satisfaction with teaching quality and assessment practices, although notable differences between faculties persisted. To ensure consistency, continuous professional development activities focusing on student-centered learning, innovative pedagogy, and assessment practices were implemented for academic staff. These initiatives contributed to more stable and sustained growth in teaching quality indicators across faculties.
With regard to admission, study progression, and graduation processes, the survey revealed increased student reliance on academic staff for guidance, while the academic advising system functioned inconsistently across disciplines. In response, an institutional academic advising system was formally introduced and implemented across all academic programs. Academic advisors were assigned to all student groups, ensuring equitable access to guidance and support.
The survey also confirmed increased student trust in academic staff, alongside concerns related to growing teaching workloads. To mitigate this risk, teaching loads were optimized and quality-based performance indicators were incorporated into promotion and attestation procedures. These measures strengthened staff motivation while safeguarding educational quality.
In the area of learning resources and student support, a decline in negative feedback regarding distance learning was observed. Nevertheless, the need for structured academic, psychological, and social support services remained evident. Consequently, a centralized Student Support Center was established, integrating academic advising, psychological counseling, and social assistance services. This initiative significantly improved the effectiveness of student support and the resolution of student appeals.
The use of official communication channels increased notably; however, information sources remained insufficiently centralized. To address this, a University-wide communication strategy was developed and implemented, positioning official channels as the primary source of institutional information and strengthening the role of the Quality Assurance Department and Media Office.
Concerns regarding insufficient transparency for external stakeholders were addressed by publishing annual quality assurance reports, student survey results, and institutional performance reports for public access. These actions enhanced public trust and accountability.
To ensure sustainability, systematic monitoring and comparative analysis of survey results for 2023–2025 were introduced. Trend analyses were conducted and formally documented, supporting evidence-based decision-making. In addition, internal self-evaluation procedures were standardized in preparation for national and international accreditation processes, incorporating comparative analysis into self-assessment reports.
Overall Outcomes
As a result of the actions implemented based on the 2024 student survey, Bukhara State University further strengthened its internal quality assurance system and ensured continuity between improvement cycles. Student participation in governance and curriculum development became more structured and institutionalized, transparency increased for both internal and external stakeholders, and academic quality indicators demonstrated stable growth. The University reinforced its quality culture, improved stakeholder confidence, and enhanced its readiness for external quality assurance and accreditation procedures.
