History of the department
The department was opened in 1959 at the same time as the Faculty of Primary Education Methodology as part of the Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education.  The department functioned until 1977.  After that, the department was divided into two departments: Pedagogy of Primary Education and Methodology of Primary Education.  All subjects of primary education were attached to this department.  In different years the department was headed by Sh.Raykhonov, O.R Rozikov, K.H Khairullayev, I.I Shamsiddinov, D.Y Roziyev, F.M Kasimov, M.M Tilavova, M. H Mahmudov.
In 1984, by order of the rector, the department was renamed the Theory and Methods of Mother Tongue.  From the 1994-1995 academic year, a new department was established on the basis of the department, which includes preschool education pedagogy and psychology.
The department was founded in 1959 at the same time as the Faculty of Methods of Primary Education; as part of the Department of Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education. Until 1977, it functioned as part of an experienced staff. After that, the department was divided into two: the department of pedagogy of primary education and the economics of primary education. All subjects of this faculty of elementary education were attached to this department. In different years, they held the positions of the head of the department, professors, associate professors, such as Sh. Raykhonov, O.R. Rozikov, K.Kh. Khairullaev, I.I. .Tilavova, M.X. Makhmudovs..
Since 1984, by order of the rector's office, the department has become known as the Department of Theory and Methods of the Native Language. Since the 1994-1995 academic year, a new department has been created on the basis of the department, in which the subjects of pedagogy and psychology of preschool education are transferred.
In the 1995-1996 academic year, in connection with the creation of a "pedagogical training center", the departments were enlarged. In particular, the composition of the department “Fundamentals of Preschool Education” was merged with the composition of the Department “Methods of Primary Education”, which since 1996 has been functioning as an independent department and received the name “Fundamentals of Preschool Education and Primary Education”. its activities has trained a huge number of high-quality specialists.The heads of the department, associate professor Sh.Raikhonov and F.Kasimov, made a great contribution to the development of the scientific, educational and methodological potential of the department.Change in the need for specialties, especially in a large number of students studying in the specialty primary education, and increasing the number of teaching hours led to the fact that from 1999 to 2000 academic years the department functioned under the name “Theory and Methods of Primary Education
During its long activity, the department aims to train qualified specialists, paying special attention mainly to educational, research, spiritual and educational work. In particular, much attention is paid to updating curricula, replenishing them with new materials in accordance with the requirements of the time, and creating the material base of the department.
The department has scientific connections with other higher educational institutions. In particular, the Research Institute of Pedagogical Sciences named after Kori Niyazi, TSPU, Tergu, Kokand DPI, NDPI, KarSU and others.
Since November 10, 2009, M.M. Tilavova has been the head of the department. On June 30, 2011, by order of the rector of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University, the department began to be called “Fundamentals of Primary Education”. In 2011, A.R. Khamraev was appointed head of the Department of Basics of Primary Education
In 2016, the department was headed by Professor M.N. Makhmudov and, in accordance with the order of the administration, the department became known as the Department of Primary Education.
Since the 2018-2019 academic year, in connection with the creation of the “Faculty of Preschool and Primary Education”, the department was divided into two departments: Preschool and Primary Education.
In May 2019, by order of the rector, the Department of Primary Education was divided into two more: the Department of Theory of Primary Education and Methods of Primary Education.
The Department of Methods of Primary Education was created by the order of the Rector of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University No. 475-U dated May 17, 2019 under the name “Methods of Primary Education”.
Since the 2019-2020 academic year, it has become known as the “Methodology of Primary Education”.
From May 2019 to the present, the department is headed by Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Khamroev Alizhon Ruzikulovich, who makes a worthy contribution to increasing its scientific and pedagogical potential and strengthening the material and technical base.

Research activities of the department:
In 2020-2021, a number of pedagogical workers in the methodology of primary education defended doctoral and candidate dissertations. In particular, the head of the department A.R. Khamraev defended his doctoral dissertation in the specialty 13.00.02 - Theory and Methods of Teaching and Education (Uzbek language) and received the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences (DSc).
Sh.V. Babayeva created a textbook "Methods of teaching the native language".
At the same time, in 2020-2021, the faculty of the department published a number of textbooks. Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer of the Department F.M.Kasimov, M.M. in collaboration with Kasimova under the title "Fundamentals of the course of elementary mathematics" M.M.Kasimova "Theory of the course of elementary mathematics (part 1)", Khamraev A.R. "Methods of teaching the native language" Pulotova, M.M. teaching” Tilavova M.M., Sh.V. Babaeva “Methods of teaching the native (Russian) language (during the period of literacy)”, N.V. Adizova, R.Kh. Dzhumaev, R.A. Kuldoshev, S.R ."Methods of teaching the native language" in collaboration with Ismatov M.N. Khakimova's textbooks were published under the title "Methods of teaching mathematics (practical lesson, Module 1)", recommended for use by students.
The methodological manuals created by the teachers of the Department of Methods of Primary Education opened the doors to a wider range of opportunities for teaching students.
A.R. Khamroev and F.M. "Perspectives of primary education" in collaboration with Kasimov, O.R. Boboev and F.M. Kasimova "Problems and their solution (Grade 4)", Sh.V. Babayeva were published and placed at the disposal methodological manuals for students "Methodological recommendations for independent education according to the methods of teaching the native (Russian) language (2nd year)", Methodological recommendations for independent education according to the methods of teaching the native (Russian) language (3rd year)".
This year, the faculty of the department also created a number of textbooks in electronic form to improve the convenience of users.
Senior educator M.N. Khakimova’s electronic textbook “a system of tasks to ensure continuity in the formation of mathematical representations in preschool and primary education”, M.M. Tilavova, M. Dzh.N. Kurbanova, A.I. monograph “technology and methods of teaching it”, Sh.Y. Yusufzoda, G.E. Saidova, M.Zh. Fedorov, Ya.Y. Azimov, B.N. Together with Kadyrova and a team of teachers, users were provided with textbooks “Methodological complex for the discipline Management of the development of professional skills in the era of the digital economy”.
In 2022-2023, the faculty of the department A.R. Khamraev, G.M. Saifullaev, Sh.N. Kurbanova, Sh.Yu. Yusufzoda, M.G. Sadulaeva, Y.U.Nurova, Ya.A.Pulotova, M.Zh.Yusupov, A.Sh. Khusenova, U.Sh. Togaeva, Sidikova D.,.D.I.Davronov, M.R.V In the 2022-2023 academic year, 30 professors and teachers will work at the Department of Methods of Primary Education. Of these, 1 doctor of science, 4 candidates of science, associate professors. The scientific potential is 22%.
Today, independent researchers are the senior lecturer M.N. Khakimova and Pulatova Yu.A. defended her thesis of Doctor of Philosophy (Phd) in pedagogical sciences.
The department has formed a system for attracting young people to research work, staffing research and innovation activities. 4 young teachers of the department A. Sh. Khusenova, D. Omonova, U. Sh. Togaeva, D. Sh. Sidikova are studying in doctoral studies. The teaching staff of the department establishes partnerships with general education schools of the region, teaching aids, articles are jointly prepared for them.
Branches of the department are organized in secondary schools No. 29 in Bukhara, No. 5 in Bukhara, Bukhara region, teachers regularly organize training seminars and open classes in schools according to the established plan.
