At Bukhara State University, a seminar on “Universities–2030: Governance, Innovation, and Global Transformation” was held under the participation of Dr. Azamat Akbarov, Director of the Silk Road Research Academy. University leadership staff attended the event.
The seminar extensively discussed modern university governance, strategic development, digital transformation, and enhancing competitiveness in the global education space. Key insights were shared regarding international higher education practices, the model of future universities, academic freedom, and effective governance mechanisms.
During the dialogue, recommendations were made to strengthen academic integrity systems and to integrate research ethics as an essential part of the educational process. In addition, strategies to improve international ranking indicators—including QS World University Rankings, publishing requirements in the Scopus database, increasing citation indices, and enhancing research performance—were analyzed.
The discussion also focused on creating a supportive academic and social environment for international students, expanding English-language programs, implementing mentorship and orientation initiatives, and improving the functioning of international offices. The importance of strong foreign language skills, academic mobility, and active participation in international grants and projects was emphasized.
Furthermore, to cultivate active and innovative students, the integration of education, research, and industry, support for startup projects, and broad involvement in grants and applied research were highlighted as critical.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Dr. Azamat Akbarov was thanked for his substantive lecture and practical recommendations. The event represented a significant step within the university’s development strategy until 2030, aimed at improving governance efficiency, reinforcing principles of quality and integrity, and advancing according to international standards.
