A meeting was held at Bukhara State University with a delegation from Austria’s prestigious IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, aimed at enhancing the international attractiveness of higher education and introducing European standards in the field of tourism.
The meeting brought together the university leadership headed by Rector, Professor Obidjon Khamidov, along with distinguished representatives of the Austrian delegation — Chairman of the Supervisory Board of IMC Krems, Heinz Boyer, and Chief Executive Officer, Udo Brendl. The discussions were held in a constructive and forward-looking spirit.
During the negotiations, the parties thoroughly discussed the establishment of a joint faculty in tourism at Bukhara State University, the launch of international joint academic programs, and the expansion of mutually beneficial academic cooperation. Special attention was given to training modern specialists by taking into account Bukhara’s regional tourism potential and aligning academic curricula.
As part of the practical follow-up, the delegation visited the Bukhara Tourism and Cultural Heritage Technical School and toured several newly constructed modern hotels in the city, reviewing the existing infrastructure and service capacities.
The primary objective of the visit was to explore the implementation of the Dual Education system, which integrates education with industry practice. This model enables students to acquire theoretical knowledge at the university while gaining practical skills directly in hotels and tourism facilities.
