Project Title: Learning in Education and Business in Central Asia (LESLIE)

This project was jointly organized by 14 organizations (partners) from 3 European Union countries (Spain, Italy, and Cyprus) and 2 Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan).

LESLIE is aimed at developing new opportunities for use by higher education institutions in Central Asia in upcoming educational programs in the field of Sustainable Land Management (SLM).

The overall objective of the project is to design and develop a set of micro-credit modules and digital educational tools on Sustainable Land Management (SLM), to be introduced in universities in Central Asia (Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan), with the purpose of updating their current academic offerings at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.

This will ensure that the needs of MSc degree programs, regulators, and industries are met in accordance with the latest and most rigorous international standards.

LESLIE has been developed through five specific objectives:

  1. To establish an integrated Sustainable Land Management center in higher education institutions in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

  2. To jointly develop and implement a set of micro-credit modules on Sustainable Land Management (SLM).

  3. To produce a set of didactic tools in digital format that can be integrated as supporting materials into SLM BSc and MSc online educational programs.

  4. To integrate all educational materials into a Single Online SLM Repository (Toolbox).

  5. To develop a pilot Future Education Incubator, which includes the application of new teaching methods using the STEHEAM approach to promote and disseminate SLM among university students toward 2030.
