A comprehensive scientific and cultural meeting was held in the small conference hall of Bukhara State University, featuring the distinguished international guest Rafael Nektalov. The event focused on Bukhara’s role in global civilization, providing a scientific foundation for the region’s traditions of interethnic tolerance, and the further development of cultural diplomacy.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of the region, B.Z. Shaxriyorov; the University Rector, O.X. Khamidov; Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, K.A. Samiyev; renowned historian and scholar R.V. Almeyev; Professor of the Department of Archaeology and Bukhara History, H.H. Turayev; Head of the Department of Music Performance and Culture, T.I. Rajabov; Associate Professor E.R. Artikov; Head of the International Cooperation Department, Sh.X. Sharofiddinov; as well as faculty members and students from the departments of History and Law, Fine Arts and Pedagogy, and Philology.
The primary focus of the dialogue was the discussion of two major international projects scheduled for February 2026. Specifically, conceptual proposals were reviewed for the high-level organization of the international scientific-practical conference titled "The Role of Bukharian Jews in the Socio-Economic and Cultural Life of the Region" and the "Bukhara Shashmaqom Night," a celebration of this masterpiece of Uzbek classical art.
During the session, experts outlined specific measures to expand the scientific scope of the conference, explore new archival sources in collaboration with the Bukharian Jewish community in New York, and intensify the international promotion of the art of Shashmaqom.
This meeting serves as a vital platform for presenting Bukhara’s invaluable cultural and scientific heritage to the global community through a contemporary lens.
