International Scientific Cooperation within “Urgent 90 Days”: Collaboration Established between the Department of Chemistry and Oil-Gas Technologies at Bukhara State University and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

16.07.2025

As part of the “Urgent 90 Days” initiative, Bukhara State University (BukhSU) has further strengthened its international ties by establishing academic collaboration with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. From July 11 to 15, 2025, a delegation of esteemed Pakistani scholars visited Bukhara, including long-time partner and distinguished scientist Dr. M. Kamran Azim, a professor at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University—one of Pakistan’s leading higher education institutions.

Since 2020, Dr. Kamran Azim has been actively collaborating with the Department of Chemistry and Oil-Gas Technologies at BukhSU. During his most recent visit, he conducted a series of pro bono masterclasses and interactive lectures for master’s students, PhD candidates, and faculty members of the department.

Dr. Azim delivered lectures focused on advanced topics in biomedical research methodology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. He also shared insights into the use of modern laboratory equipment, methods for analyzing experimental data, and techniques for writing scientific articles. Key topics covered in his sessions included:

  • Structure and Functions of Major Royal Jelly Proteins of the Honeybees

  • Publication Protocols for Scientific Articles in Scopus and Web of Science Journals

  • Data Analysis and Statistical Interpretation in Scientific Research

This visit marked an important step in boosting the department's research capacity, expanding international cooperation, and encouraging young researchers to pursue global scientific standards.

Moreover, an agreement was reached to conduct biological activity testing of synthesized samples—prepared as part of ongoing research by BukhSU scientists S.F. Abdurakhmonov, Q. Avezov, and M. Mardonov—against bacteria, fungi, and cancer cells in Pakistan. Based on the results, the parties plan to co-author research articles to be published in journals indexed in the Scopus database.

During the cultural segment of the visit, the Pakistani delegation explored Bukhara's rich heritage by visiting spiritual sites such as Sayyid Mir Kulol and Bahauddin Naqshband mausoleums. This cultural exchange highlighted Bukhara's traditions of religious tolerance, tourism potential, and cultural hospitality.
