International Conference on “Desert-Oasis Ecosystems in the Context of Climate Change: Challenges and Solutions” Held at Bukhara State University

An international conference titled “Desert-Oasis Ecosystems in the Context of Climate Change: Challenges and Solutions” was held at Bukhara State University in honor of World Environment Day (June 5). The event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Management of the Bukhara region, the Green University – a regional center for environmental and climate change studies in Central Asia, Kazan Federal University, Omsk State Pedagogical University, and Bukhara State University.

The conference was opened by the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of BukhSU, K. Samiev, who highlighted the global significance of addressing desert and oasis ecosystems in the era of climate change.

Throughout the conference, leading academics delivered insightful presentations on urgent environmental issues. Notably, A. Qodirov, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agrobiotechnology, presented a report on “Environmental Protection Priorities Amid Climate Change.”

The conference also featured presentations from international experts, including P.V. Bolshannik, Associate Professor at Omsk State Pedagogical University; R.A. Ulengov, Head of Department at Kazan Federal University; and Y. Shakirova, Associate Professor at the same university. Their contributions provided valuable insights and scientific perspectives on sustainable solutions for fragile ecosystems under the threat of climate change.
