Meeting Between the Mayor of Karakul District and Karakul Students Held at Bukhara State University

04.06.2025

As part of the ongoing initiative “Hokim (Mayor) and Youth”, Bukhara State University hosted a productive meeting on June 4 between Khurshid Tokhirov, the mayor of Karakul District, and university students and graduates originally from Karakul.

This dialogue, held under the slogan “Step into the Future” within the framework of the “90 Critical Days” campaign, featured a special business training session with successful entrepreneurs for graduating students of BukhSU.

The event was inaugurated by the university's rector, Obidjon Khamidov, who emphasized the importance of direct engagement between local leaders and the youth in addressing development challenges and opportunities.

Mayor Tokhirov delivered a comprehensive speech on the reforms and modernization efforts underway in Karakul District. He underscored the importance of mastering technology and foreign languages, urging students to equip themselves for leadership in the evolving labor market.

During the open forum, students received detailed responses and personalized solutions to their concerns. One notable exchange came from Zulaykho Gofurjonova, a final-year student majoring in agricultural product processing, who asked: “What are the employment prospects in my field back in Karakul?”

In response, the mayor emphasized the abundance of raw materials and the strategic importance of developing the agro-processing industry in the district. He pledged support for BukhSU graduates in this field, including sending top students abroad for professional training at the district's expense to help advance this sector locally.

Heads of departments for employment, education, and youth affairs also participated in the discussion, carefully reviewing all student appeals and providing actionable solutions.

Such meetings at the university level are proving highly effective in improving graduate employment outcomes and contributing to the socio-economic progress of local districts.
