The BukhSU team organized a cultural and educational event called the “Festival of National Values” at the “Abdurauf Fitrat” park in Bukhara city.
The traditional “Festival of National Values” holds great significance in appreciating our ancestors’ heritage, customs, arts, and culture, and passing these on to the younger generation. The event organized by the BukhSU team is another step towards self-awareness, living with respect for our history and traditions.
Guests were welcomed with national melodies performed by talented students from the Department of Music Performance and Culture. A creative exhibition showcasing visual arts related to national values was presented by the creative students of the Faculty of Art Studies and Pedagogy. Additionally, a national costumes exhibition was held. To celebrate our national values, performances included Bukhara folk songs, daira players, mavrigi, shashmaqom, and other stage presentations that brought joy to the attendees.
Within the festival, various traditional ceremonies were conducted, such as “Cradle tying,” “Sallabandon,” and “Bride’s greeting.” Additionally, processes like “Applying henna,” “Applying usma” and “Styling hair into small curls (jamalak)” were organized accompanied by national songs. Poetry readings (mushoira) and ghazal singing events also took place.
Throughout the festival, traditional games including “Besh tosh,” “Chor po‘choq,” wrestling, lanka, tug-of-war, “Oq terakmi, kuk terak?”, “Kim oladi?”, and “Chillak” were organized.
As part of the “Sports Month,” events such as checkers, chess, table tennis, arm wrestling, and performances by young athletes were held.
